Exporting as image

Start mapping

Making images from your work

You might want to make an image of a part of your map. While of course it is possible to use a screen shot program, Breakdown Notes offers support to make images. With this feature it is possible to make images bigger then your screen. We will explain how to proceed in this tutorial.

How?

To start exporting, first press "add" in the export menu. This will add an blueish rectangle onto the screen. There are to export modes:

The first will keep a fixed ratio (1/ sqrt(2)). This is the standard paper size (A4 etc). You can set the orientation to landscape or portrait in the export menu. Your job is to pan and zoom the map so that the part you want to export is inside the region.

The second is without this standard ratio. You now get to drag and resize the export region over any part of the map. Simply make sure everything you want displayed on the image is inside the export region bij dragging and resizing this region.

Once you are happy with the ratio, and what part of the map is inside it (what will be exported), you will have to choose an export size. If you kept a fixed ratio, you can choose a paper size ranging from A0 (big) to A6 (small). If you set a custom ratio, you can choose a scale factor. The resulting image size in pixels will be displayed.

Last steps to finalize the import is to press the export button. This will build the image and open it in a new tab. Right clicking the image in the tab to save it. You will have to allow "pop-ups" temporary to complete this last step.
